“Webster” remembers Barry Arcangeli

“Webster” and the Daniel Webster Preservation Trust, lost a dear friend last week. Barry Arcangeli, decorator, designer, collector of antiques, was a good man and a good friend. He died suddenly, and way too soon.

Remembered by DWPT President, Carol Kiburis, “Barry’s lovely displays, numerous talents and his devotion to the Daniel Webster Estate, will be missed. Barry was a generous man and spent hours perfecting his craft.”

Recommended to the Webster Estate 5 years ago by his friend and now husband, Michael, as the “right man for the job“, and that he was; as he instantly became a much admired and a much appreciated, as well as indispensable Christmas Show House decorator.  Barry’s forte and love was the restoring of antique dolls and mannequins.

And, as he yearly decorated rooms throughout the 1880 Victorian mansion that was visibly apparent.  He hunted on his days off for just the right pieces and then proceeded to refashion, redecorate, redesign, embellish and even create new items; sewing, mixing and matching, and using early 20th century outfits, gowns, dresses, and original clothing.   His chosen Christmas rooms showcased his talents.

His mannequins, male and female, and all “dressed’ by Barry, and staged so perfectly each year to tell his story. –Welcome! Come Join Us! We’re Happy You’re Here!–

He had recently texted Mickey Carr, Show House coordinator, the following,

“I picked up some large Christmas items for this year’s winter wonderland….OMG I can’t wait for Christmas.  Wait until you see the fabulous things I’ve gotten.”

We are so sad that we won’t see his new treasures. But we will remember Barry for his ever present smile, his hugs, his sweetness, his joy and Christmas spirit, his talents, and his absolutely wonderful Christmas presentations.
